Garden and terrace design

Wever Lodge

Briefing: The Hotel de Wever Lodge is a fully renovated original family home, redesigned by the architecture firm Framework Studio. The client’s wish was to create an accessible garden where hotel guests and hikers would feel at home.

Design: The design for the garden and terrace is a relatively small, wild English front garden that was given a grand, natural character through the principle of “borrowed landscape.” Inspiration was found in old photos from the archive of the original family home “de Wever.” These photos were used as a basis for the garden that we have designed and constructed. An endless heath that rises up to the hotel with natural terraces and fireplaces.

Studio Hortus likes to think outside the box when it comes to what can and cannot be done. Sometimes a house, restaurant, or office is too dark for real plants, but the client still wishes to create a green experience. In such cases, we will discuss with the client and together create a tailor-made design for artificial plants or trees, potentially combined with silk flowers.
